Lyrics

Just like a Robin when the summer’s gone

Looking at the sky when it’s time for moving on

There’s a world out there you’ve never seen

And all I wanna do is help you use your wings

Hey, what I say, love is a word that shouldn’t get in the way

Hi, it’s alright, you’re as free as a bird, and don’t be afraid to fly

I would never want to hold you down

Hang you up, hold you back, keep you on the ground

We can find a dream out in the blue

Take time, give it a try, there’s nothing we can’t do

Hey, what I say, love is a word that shouldn’t get in the way

Hi, it’s alright, you’re as free as a bird, and don’t be afraid to fly

We can soar above the clouds

And have a laugh and cry out loud

And stay up late and chase the moon

When we come down is up to you

Hey, what I say, love is a word that shouldn’t get in the way

Hi, it’s alright, you’re as free as a bird, and don’t be afraid to fly

You're as free as a bird. and don't be afraid to fly

Lyrics

What’s it gonna take to wake your sleeping heart

What’s it gonna take to wake your sleeping heart

We’d spend all night on a bike if you wanna tear right through the wind

Dive any time through the sky if you wanna free climb up a cliff

The ride I’m on is to get you off and headed for the stars

There’s no off limits, no place that’s too far

What’s it gonna take to wake your sleeping heart

What’s it gonna take to wake your sleeping heart

We’d hop on a train in the rain if you wanna roll on down the line

The boats and planes I’d take if you wanna, any old day and time

The ride I’m on is to get you off and headed for the stars

There’s no off limits, no place that’s too far

What’s it gonna take to wake your sleeping heart

What’s it gonna take to wake your sleeping heart

There’s a world of love you haven’t found, open your eyes and you might find out

The ride I’m on is to get you off and headed for the stars

There’s no off limits, no place that’s too far

What’s it gonna take to wake your sleeping heart

What’s it gonna take to wake your sleeping heart

Lyrics

Some mistakes can’t be foreseen

Some loves don’t live evergreen

You can say I’m wrong, but I know what I can see

You don’t need it – like I need it

Some things still work when their broke

Put a fire out, there’s still smoke

I don’t like giving up, but it’s obvious to me

You don’t need it – like I need it

Need the light, need the love

Every thing we’ve run short of

Like the spark and the flame

Not this bed of coals, in this house of pain

What’s the use? What’s to do?

When we both know one thing’s true

You don’t need it – like I need it

Love can walk over a heart

Love can leave a deep footmark

With the way it’s been, you can see why I'd believe

You don’t need it – like I need it

Need the light, need the love

Every thing we’ve run short of

Like the spark and the flame

Not this bed of coals, in this house of pain

What’s the use? What’s to do?

When we both know one thing’s true

You don’t need it – like I need it

Lyrics

There’s a little old place where we used to live

A lot less take, a lot more give

Where we learned to love

Deals were made by the shake of a hand

To a lady’s face you said “yes ma’am” and that’s the way it was

When things close in that’s where I go even though

     I don’t live there anymore

     where my friends got married,

my dad’s buried in the cemetery out on the edge of town

near the church with the steeple, I love the people,

praying for a day when there’s no more pain,

     nobody crying, nobody dying,

you still might see me ‘round the town square

even though I don’t live there

And WalMart built a superstore,

so all you’ll can get much more

worth nickels and dimes

A train still runs through the heart of town

but these days they just won’t slow down

they don’t blur the line

When things close in that’s where I go even though,

     I don’t live there anymore

     where my friends got married,

my dad’s buried in the cemetery out on the edge of town

near the church with the steeple, I love the people,

praying for a day when there’s no more pain,

     nobody crying, nobody dying,

you still might see me ‘round the town square

even though I don’t live there

Lyrics

Mountain top got your chainsaw crew

Come five o’clock we’ll be cutting loose

Not a drop ‘til the last one falls

Where the buck stops finds us skidding logs

Hey boys, meet me back in town

The devil won’t get us when the sun goes down

      Hey boys, have another round

The devil won’t get us when the sun goes down

Shore to shore, yard by yard

Door to door you can see our mark

We may be poor but we’re strong

We built the floor that you’re standing on

Hey boys, meet me back in town

The devil won’t get us when the sun goes down

     Hey boys, have another round

The devil won’t get us when the sun goes down

In Jerusalem lived a carpenter

I’m not like him but I do work

In God’s woods where the deer do play

Make me a good box of pine someday

Hey boys, meet me back in town

The devil won’t get us when the sun goes down

     Hey boys, have another round

The devil won’t get us when the sun goes down

Lyrics

Looking back before I met you

I never felt a need to question  -  who am I?

Everything revolved around me

There was no one there to make me – wonder why

Could I see what lay before me?

Could I see you coming?   -   never ever

Could I see my future clearly?

Could I see you with me?  -never ever

I didn’t take the time to focus

Or to turn around to notice – where you were

I was on a road to nowhere

Then like an answer to a last prayer - there you were

Could I see the point of falling

Could I see you catch me?  -  never ever

Could I see my life so different?

Could I see you change it?   -   never ever

I was just about to give up

When I heard a voice say – never ever

I was on the edge and leaning

When you brought my back from  -  never ever

Lyrics

Listen to your heart tonight

Let it gently be your guide

It’s gonna sound so sweet & clear

You’ll be seeing it when you hear

You will know when love has found you

Just like an old familiar voice

It will echo all around you

Love’s not a matter of choice

You can’t stop the melody

Of a bluebird when it sings

The steeple bell’s gonna split the wind

The feeling hits and pulls you in

You will know when love has found you

Just like an old familiar voice

It will echo all around you

Love’s not a matter of choice

Standing out in a lonely crowd

          Searching everywhere

There’s no road in and no road out

But one day you’re gonna be there

Go to the river and close your eyes

Hear the song of paradise

It will tell you everything

You’ll hear the spirit whispering

You will know when love has found you

Just like an old familiar voice

It will echo all around you

Love’s not a matter of choice

Lyrics

Standin’ on a corner, each day at five

Bible in his hand, hell fire in his eyes

Buddhists and Baptists each of them know

The path to glory is a narrow road

     Shouting the gospel

     Spreading the news

Say he’s crazy but he’s saved a few

You can find him down in Birmingham

The soul survivor, Street Corner Sam

Pointing his finger at each car passing by

He can’t reach ‘em all, but he’s sure gonna try

Some will judge him by his ragged old coat

But he’s made up of heaven’s gold

     Shouting the gospel

     Spreading the news

Say he’s crazy but he’s saved a few

You can find him down in Birmingham

The soul survivor, Street Corner Sam

His friends and family have been gone so long

He’s testifying that you’re never alone

Some throw money cause they know he’s right

He gives it all to the soup kitchen line

     Shouting the gospel

     Spreading the news

Say he’s crazy but he’s saved a few

You can find him down in Birmingham

The soul survivor, Street Corner Sam

Lyrics

Wouldn’t wanna’ live my life another way

Wouldn’t wanna’ change it, not a single day

Never had an urge to take that long flat straight highway

Never had to listen, yet I still could hear

Never had to focus just to see things clear

Didn’t take a lot for me to up and disappear

Had to make my own way round the madness

Had to seek a trail nobody was on

Had to learn to walk outside my shadow

Wouldn’t let a cloud confine me

Couldn’t let the sun not find me

Had to make my own way round the madness

Had to seek a trail nobody was on

Had to learn to walk outside my shadow

Wouldn’t let a cloud confine me

Couldn’t let the sun not find me

Wouldn’t wanna’ live my life another way

Wouldn’t wanna’ change it, not a single day

Never had an urge to take that long flat straight highway

Lyrics

Dream you’re the wind – in a whirl, in a spin

as you fly - cross a yard - to a field not so far

pass the woods - down a hill - jump a creek - feel a thrill,

hear a bow - hit a string - then you’ll know when it sings

you’ve been bound - for the last hoedown

Right by a lake - there’s a wall - where a gate

opens on - to a place - where light dew leave a trace

of footprints - on a lawn - like a trail come upon

or a chord - when it rings - that in turn softly brings

you the sound - of the last hoedown

Every soul will be there - brought on beams of white moonlight

Lending voices on air - calling dances ‘til twilight

Then right - there in the glow - of a fire you'll be told

through an old - fiddle song - that at last you belong

and you’ve found - the last hoedown

Every soul will be there - brought on beams of white moonlight

Lending voices on air - calling dances ‘til twilight

Then right - under a tree - join the new jubilee

step to step - toe to toe - to a timeless banjo

shadows dance - in a line - arm in arm intertwined

all at once - you’re aware - as that fiddle declares

to all around - it’s the last hoedown

that fiddle sounds - the last hoedown
