Lyrics

There’s a little old place where we used to live

A lot less take, a lot more give

Where we learned to love

Deals were made by the shake of a hand

To a lady’s face you said “yes ma’am” and that’s the way it was

When things close in that’s where I go even though

     I don’t live there anymore

     where my friends got married,

my dad’s buried in the cemetery out on the edge of town

near the church with the steeple, I love the people,

praying for a day when there’s no more pain,

     nobody crying, nobody dying,

you still might see me ‘round the town square

even though I don’t live there

And WalMart built a superstore,

so all you’ll can get much more

worth nickels and dimes

A train still runs through the heart of town

but these days they just won’t slow down

they don’t blur the line

When things close in that’s where I go even though,

     I don’t live there anymore

     where my friends got married,

my dad’s buried in the cemetery out on the edge of town

near the church with the steeple, I love the people,

praying for a day when there’s no more pain,

     nobody crying, nobody dying,

you still might see me ‘round the town square

even though I don’t live there
