Lyrics

Thought we were old enough, thought we were all grown up
Back in the fall of sixty-two
Stuck in a steel town, I pushed the ore around
You were sixteen, I was twenty-two

We talked for days and days, we planned our getaway
I put a ring on your left hand
Your daddy disapproved, your momma cried for you
There was no way they’d understand

We felt we had the right
So we took off one night
No other choice was left to choose
     Back in those younger years
     We lived without those fears
We thought there’s nothing we can lose

Younger Years, we knew what we wanted then
Younger Years, we reached out and took it in
          Younger Years, Younger Years

A job was hard to find, long unemployment lines
When we got down to our last dime
With rent due on the first, it went from hard to worse
Don’t know how we got through those times

     We could have given up
     Said that we’d had enough
Somehow we put up a good fight
     Back in those Younger Years
     We brushed away the tears
And just held on to you and I

Younger Years, we knew what we wanted then
Younger Years, we reached out and took it in
          Younger Years, Younger Years

Times are still tough and we just get by
It’s harder now to get up and try

But in those Younger Years before we had these fears
Our love could always get us by

Story

Lyrics

So many roads you'll travel - many lonely miles

Before you join the Battle, before you reconcile

You're with it or against it - or you stand alone

Blink and you'll have missed it, staying late at home

Waiting on the sun, just waiting on the sun

The will that will be done, just waiting on the sun

Earthquakes shake the mountains - and rivers flood the sea

And there's no way of counting what may set you free

And darkness has its comfort and shadows have their right

To give you peaceful slumber when trouble's out of sight

Waiting on the sun, just waiting on the sun

The will that will be done, just waiting on the sun

The moon can be so lovely - but never shines enough

And leaves you old and ugly - with diamonds and your rust

I'll see you in the morning, I'll greet you when we rise

I pray it won't be storming when we say goodnight

Waiting on the sun, just waiting on the sun

The will that will be done, just waiting on the sun
